We all want to find ways to reach out to students and faculty who don’t regularly come to into the library. Heather Darnell, Library Media Specialist at Northern Virginia Community College-Annandale, found a very cool way to do this: pop up research desks!
Heather explains:
We popped up research help desks in different buildings around Northern Virginia Community College Annandale’s campus. We were marketing to the student body and faculty, so I wanted to make something that stood out but also looked personable and fun—just like our wonderful library reference staff! I used Adobe Illustrator to create the librarian on the flyer, and built the rest of the design from there.
That’s a pretty adorable Ask a Librarian flyer, and a couple of super helpful and inventive librarians in the picture above. Great outreach idea, NOVA librarians!
